A really proud night for Glossop Cricket Club as we were named winners of the Connecting Communities Award at the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation awards.
This one means a lot because it recognises what's happened at North Road over the last few years – bringing more people into cricket, but also bringing more people together through the club.

The growth means we're now planning around 19 junior and senior teams, as well as representative, disability and other community cricket, with pretty much every available bit of capacity at North Road being used.
There was more recognition for Glossop too, with Leanne Drury finishing runner-up in the Championing Women's Cricket Award.
Very well deserved recognition for the work Leanne has put in to establish our women's team, organise festivals and encourage more women and girls to get involved in cricket. It's an area of the club that simply didn't exist a few years ago and is now becoming a big part of what we do.
What makes both awards particularly pleasing is that both nominations came directly from Derbyshire Cricket Foundation themselves. We didn't put ourselves forward, so to have the work going on at Glossop recognised by the DCF means a lot.
None of this happens without people giving their time. Coaches, team managers, parents, scorers, ground staff, committee members, Friday-night volunteers and plenty more.
A proper club effort – and something everyone involved with GCC should be proud of. ๐๐
