The Weekly Wrap-Up (17/08/2026)
1st XI — Milnrow won by 69 runs
Milnrow 166 all out (39.5 overs) beat Glossop 97 all out (33.3 overs)
Bowling: Matt 4-12 (11), Anuk 3-49
Another huge game in the GMCL Championship title race, away at Milnrow. Glossop won the toss and bowled first. Anuk struck early, removing both openers with sharp slip catching to leave Milnrow 37-2 on a good batting track. A partnership threatened to build before Digby broke through twice to make it 88-4. Matt was superb throughout, finishing with 4-12 off 11 overs, and a direct-hit run out from Will wrapped up the innings at 166 — a below-par total on that surface.
Glossop's reply never got going. Chris and Lee, usually so reliable, both struggled with niggles and the score slipped to 41-2, then 50-5. Anuk and Digby steadied things briefly before Anuk fell at mid-off, and the lower order couldn't rebuild. Glossop were bowled out for 97 in a tough day at the office.
Lessons to learn quickly as the season enters its business end — Glossop remain third and in the promotion mix.
2nd XI — Glossop won by 84 runs
Glossop 242 all out (45 overs) beat Dukinfield 158 all out (32 overs)
Batting: Jarrod 54 (48), Sam E. 49 (78)
Bowling: Joe 5-46 (10), Dave 2-24 (6)
Following last week's big win over the league leaders, the 2nds went one better against 2nd-placed Dukinfield. Winning the toss and batting first, Glossop posted a big 242 thanks to Jarrod (54) and Sam E. (49), with useful contributions throughout the order from Dave, Sam D. and Joe.
With the ball, Sam D. struck early with lovely movement to remove the first opener, before Joe produced arguably his best spell of the season — prodigious turn and variation causing problems all afternoon, including the key wicket of danger-man Gujjar. Dave wrapped things up with two wickets in the 32nd over. Special mention to returning keeper Chris, whose sharp take off Joe and superb diving grab off Jarrod capped a dominant team performance that keeps Glossop well placed to finish the season strongly.
3rd XI — Glossop won by 87 runs
Glossop 244 (40 overs) beat Mottram 157-6 (40 overs)
Batting: Ben 87 (80), Olly 40 (21), Archie 30 (30), Joe 24
Bowling: Joe 2-19 (8), Jonny 2-34 (8)
The 3rds picked up a strong 87-run win away at Mottram to claim 5 points. Batting first, Glossop posted 244 from their 40 overs. After slipping from 73-0 to 130-7, Ben (87 from 80) and Joe (24) rebuilt superbly with an 82-run stand, with Olly (40) and Archie (30) also chipping in earlier on.
Mottram never got going in the chase. Joe (2-19) and Jonny (2-34) led a disciplined bowling display, and despite having wickets in hand, Mottram managed just 30 runs from their final 10 overs as Glossop cruised to a comfortable win.
