The Weekly Wrap-Up (8/6/26)

1st XI - Saturday

Flowery Field 189/10 (49), Glossop 147/10 (35.3).   Flowery Field win by 42 runs.

  • Anuk Fernando 3-29 (6)
  • Digby Evans 3-34 (7)
  • Will Hargreaves 3-36 (15)

  • Anuk Fernando 41 (42)

Glossop won the toss and had a bowl starting on time despite wet conditions all week.

Booth provided great control with the new ball with no luck and Evans continued his positive return from injury ripping through both openers which is great to see with his workload slowly increasing and more to follow. Rotation of both Evans and Fernando picked a couple more wickets with the score at 46-4 and Glossop in a commanding position with spinners Hargreaves and Sonczak coming into the attack. Good control and wickets fell consistently with the score at 115-8 before the Flowery Captain Feakes started to up the scoring and control the strike scoring a phenomenal hundred and guiding his side to 189 all out. Pick of the bowling was Hargreaves with 3-36 off his 15 overs.

Gill and Dale started their business as usual on a lively wicket with real pace from the flowery openers. The score quickly progressing to 45 before Gill fell and Dale in quick succession afterwards with the score on 68. Fernando played some classy shots but with the ball moving around in the air and off the wicket at pace from Finan middle order wickets continued to fall. Once Fernando was dismissed for 41 it was a real up hill battle and Glossop was eventually all out for 147.

Back to back league losses for Glossop and with opportunities to put the game to bed some lessons need to be learnt to get back to winning ways. Always positives to take but We go again next week.

2nd XI

Milnrow 300/5 (45), Glossop 150/10 (31.5) - Milnrow win by 110 runs

  • David Wilde 2-66 (14)
  • Nathan Allen 1-11 (3)

  • David Wilde 43
  • Sam Elliott 36

Glossop won the toss and bowled. A difficult half with the ball, the Milnrow openers started positively but Glossop gained control back in the middle overs, notably with good variation from Wilde. The Milnrow #5 then decided to accelerate with an unbeaten 118 in 65 balls meaning a tall order for Glossop’s batters.

Glossop’s innings started on track with Wilde and Elliott going well following a dubious run out of Bolton. A familiar pattern from recent weeks returned however with wickets falling regularly to unforced error, ultimately meaning Glossop fell half way short.

Work to be done ahead of next week’s fixture at North Road and an opportunity to get back on track.

4th XI

Glossop 133/4 (21.4), Old Glossop 129/7 (35) - Glossop win by 6 wickets

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Old Glossop posted 129-7 from their 35 overs. Glossop bowling attack kept things under control throughout. Charley Ingham (2-15) and Jacob Woolleson (2-10) were particularly impressive.

In reply, Glossop made light work of the chase, reaching 133-4 in just 21.4 overs. Daniel Keeley led the way with an unbeaten 32 from 25 balls, while Jack Stopford finished 22* as the pair shared an unbroken match-winning stand. Nathan Allen added a quickfire 25, helping keep the scoreboard moving at over six runs an over. A clinical chase completed with more than 13 overs to spare.

Bowling stars:

  • Jacob Woolleson 2-10
  • Charley Ingham 2-15

Batting stars:

  • Daniel Keeley 32*
  • Jack Stopford 22*
  • Nathan Allen 25

A strong all-round performance and another excellent win for the 4ths!

Under 15's

A fantastic win for the U15s tonight against a previously undefeated Woodley!

In the first innings, our bowling and fielding were below par with us giving away about 30 runs through poor fielding or bad bowling - the 2nd half was going to be tough!

After a good start with the bat from Archie (42*) Charley (16) and JB (43*) - Seth (10*) and Henry (9*) felt no pressure at the end and swifty knocked off the runs with 2 overs to go!

A win for the U15s to be proud of showing lots of grit and support against a very strong opposition!

Notable Performances

  • Archie (42*)
  • Ted (2-15)

PotM

  • Joseph (43* off 25 balls)
